Lions Year 2023/2024

Dear Presiding Officer President Sylvia Ng, DG SK Ho, 2nd VDG Shirley Lee, PDG William Kwok and fellow Lions,

A very warm welcome, tonight is a very special moment for me. I am on my way to be the president of LCS Clarke Quay. I want to thank all who have accepted me, especially those who have supported and spoken for me. I have been in the club since 2015, and I want to thank my sponsor, Ronald Choong for bringing me to Clarke Quay family.

I stand here and know that I am at the onset of my term as Clarke Quay's president. To be honest, I feel very humbled, and yet, I also feel very privileged and honored to lead our club for the next term. I am very fortunate in that I have had examples of past presidents before me. They had been initiators and enablers of changes, changes for the better of our communities. I hold them as role models and hope to continue in the same vein. It will not be easy as their achievements have posed high expectations and goals for my own term. I will, however, strive to do my duties.

My aim during my term is to carry out projects for the five causes that LCI has set. One of these is very dear to me, the youth. I would like very much to do a project for the kids of the orphanages. Another project I have in mind is that of abandoned pets and/or fostering of animals, especially cats and dogs.

Stepping up to a leadership role in any capacity is very challenging for me. I do have some doubts about my ability to what I can bring to the table. And so I am extremely thankful for the members of our Board of Directors. IPP Steven Tan had carefully chosen them for each of their posts. I am very confident of this Board as I know they are very committed in their roles.

Thomas Jefferson said, "Far and away the best prize that life offers is the chance to work hard at work worth doing." We do work and give services that make a difference in and have an impact on, the community. However, one person or one Board will not have that impact if we do not have our club members' enthusiasm and involvement. Each of us can make a difference, and together, WE WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
